Here’s a synopsis of the show –

Series four of Come Dine With Me South Africa will take you into the homes of some of the country’s most extrovert and eccentric critics to see if they really have what it takes to be crowned the host with the most, and take home the much coveted cash prize of R10,000. Once again featuring the wry observations of voiceover legend Dave Lamb, series 4 will visit Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.

Help desk supervisor Siphosihle, food blogger Edward, tech store manager Zakariya, and project manager called Tumi, all have one goal in mind – to be crowned South Africa’s best dinner party host. With salmon terrine, pan seared salmon, prawns and sushi in the mix, it’s a coastal sounding group, except we’re actually back in landlocked Johannesburg!

Night one falls to sassy Siphosihle, and with an attentive barman, a hair on a fork and a near death at dessert, get comfortable as it’s going to be one interesting evening. Siphosihle hopes to wow her guests with a smoked salmon terrine and homemade pumpkin rolls to start, pork belly for mains with a side of pumpkin (too bad one of her guests HATES pumpkin and is not worried about saying so) and a dessert that involves champagne jelly. Early tactics sees eyebrows raised with food blogger Ed keeping his culinary cards close to his chest – let’s see how long that lasts.

Night two and tech savvy Zak is up for hosting duties. Hoping that a strategy of simplicity will take him over the finish line first, Zak serves his guests a menu of mussels in white wine and garlic sauce for starters; for mains – wood fired picanha with butternut served and for dessert a simple sounding ‘Simple Manhattan’ (aka butter) cheesecake. An easy-going prep becomes a pretty good night for Zak, except for falling hard for his guests pranks. Will all be rescued with Zak’s rippling entertainment of a belly dancer -look out for a certain someone’s twerking – boy did they have fun!

Night three and it’s Edward’s time to shine. Out to impress, Edward goes for a menu of a cold mint cucumber soup with a prawn salsa as the starter, pan fried salmon with a honey glaze of sorts for the main course and a chocolate mousse for dessert with berries. But how does the food critic/ blogger fare as a host? Or even a cook? The hunter becomes the hunted as arch-critic Ed lays his cards out on the table ready to be played.

It’s the final night and diva Tumi takes to the floor to host. Hoping to pull back the past weeks dramatic antics and extreme reactions to food, Tumi hopes her menu of a sushi salad with garlic prawns for starters, ‘fall of the bone’ oxtail with mash for mains and a dessert aptly named ‘death by chocolate’ for dessert will put her in the winning seat. Our three guests give as good as they got, and have a blast doing so.

Who will survive the week of spicy personalities and take home that coveted cash prize?
