Are you ready for Hotpod yoga?

Hotpod yoga launches in South Africa- working the body and calming the mind.

It is the most exciting concept to hit our local health and fitness industry to date. Fans range from the England Rugby captain to the beauty editor of Vogue.

Hotpod Yoga provides hot Vinyasa Yoga classes in unique inflatable, heated studios– an intensive and balanced physical workout, restoring calm and clarity to the mind in our soothing, cocoon-like pods. 37°c. Heat warms the muscles and aids flexibility as well as making the heart work harder. Thousands of years of yoga tradition are pared down to some critical, logical and powerful elements; creating highly accessible, high impact yoga
for all ability levels– and popping up in places you might not expect.

Hotpod Yoga is a revolutionary yoga concept that was born in the United Kingdom and is currently creating a major buzz throughout the world. The innovative inflatable heated pods can be placed nearly anywhere and give way to a unique brand of yoga that is accessible to everyone. Already a huge hit throughout London and numerous other UK
and European cities, Hotpod Yoga is making its debut in South Africa with the launch of Hotpod Yoga SA. In the most material sense, Hotpod Yoga is the first business to develop portable hot yoga studios. Whilst it is portable, hygienic and practical, it is also an exceptional yoga environment.

Originating in London, founders Nick Higgins and Max Henderson had a simple mission: to make the benefits of hot yoga accessible in as many ways (and places) as they can think of. They passionately believe in the transformative potential of yoga, and are finding innovative ways to take it to everybody. That’s where the Hotpod comes in. Award winning designers Inflate and Nick Elias did battle with physics to come up with a portable, practical and hygienic studio that’s also simply a sublime yoga environment.

With pods perfected and popping up all over and a franchising operation in place, it’s now all about the yoga. With specially balanced Vinyasa sequences designed to offer a high impact workout at all ability levels, Hotpod Yoga hopes to demystify yoga for a new wave of followers – widening the reach of its extraordinary benefits beyond the usual places, with the help of an unrivaled team of instructors.

Hotpod Yoga is coming to South Africa, courtesy of Daniela de Bruyn. Daniela is a Yogi, a Mom, a Marketer and Jozi’s Hotpod Yogini. She comes from a retail marketing background, where she was often the first to clock in and the last to leave the office. She dreamed big; she worked hard and she’s worked on some great projects. But she’s always been looking to use her craft for that one thing that she could wholeheartedly promote and market to the world. Something that changes people’s lives for the better, something she truly believes in, something she could be proud of. Yoga has always been her passion; her medicine and basically her answer to everything. So when she found Hotpod Yoga and decided to bring it to South Africa, she knew that she found what she’s been looking for.

She did her Yoga teacher training at Yoga Vidya Gurukul (Yoga University) in Nassik, Maharashta India and started teaching vinyasa yoga classes in 2013 with Yogi Love in Pretoria. During 2014 she also completed a Core Strength Vinyasa course and went to London to do her Hotpod Yoga training. Now she represents Hotpod Yoga in South Africa
and is truly proud and passionate about making hot yoga more accessible to everyone who needs it, to get people to experience the benefits of moving and breathing and sweating it out in the Hotpods.

Hotpod Yoga is ideal for people living a busy lifestyle; it’s high impact and at the same time very relaxing. Once you step inside the pod, the outside world disappears, leaving you free to focus on your body and your breath.
“The Hotpods are magical spaces of bliss and of balance: the body gets a work out
and the mind an escape from daily routines.

Signature Hotpod Yoga classes are based on classic Vinyasa-flow yoga – a balanced sequence of active and passive postures, synchronized with the breath. Like all forms of yoga, Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits – building strength, toning muscles and re-energising the body, while also relaxing the mind.

Each hour-long class is designed to be friendly and non-competitive, hugely accessible– suitable for beginners, yet challenging enough for the experienced yogi. On average, 700 calories are burnt during one class, making Hotpod Yoga classes ideal for those wanting to lose weight, tone up, detox and de-stress.

Perhaps it’s because it feels like the physical manifestation of a ‘protective
bubble’. The soft lighting, incense and 38°C heat certainly help. I can understand
why Hotpod Yoga usually offers its portable studio to offices, as this seems the
perfect antidote to a stressed-out day behind a desk.

Hotpod have their own unique style based on the age-old Vinyasa yoga – a happy
blend of relaxing and muscle-challenging poses so you leave the class feeling like
you’ve had a full-on workout but also rejuvenated.

The future of Yoga Studios. Find yourself slipping into a state of calm, relaxation and Zen. But not for long,
the practice is hot vinyasa flow and at 37 degrees, you’ll be thrust into an intense dynamic sequence that’ll have you sweating it out, hard. By the end of it, you’ll have a clear head, limitless energy and a radiant demeanour.

When the class is over, I feel physically and mentally refreshed, and definitely
understand the appeal of this calming yet physically challenging form of exercise.

Hot yoga continues to be the exercise of choice for many due to its ability to strengthen the body, calm the mind and purge toxins. The team at Hotpod Yoga took what they believe to be the ideal yoga practise and improved its environment by creating hygienic and comforting studios that could pop up anywhere, and be safely put away after class.

Once inside the womb-like vessel, the class is cocooned from the outside world, aiding concentration, meditation and relaxation. Unlike studios with carpets that absorb sweat, the Hotpod Yoga studio walls are made from an innovative, breathable fabric that keeps bad aromas at bay. Heated to a pleasant 37 degrees, the heat assists flexibility, without causing any discomfort.

Hotpod Yoga continues to build its corporate residencies in the UK by bringing their unique, hot yoga studios to employees at the likes of Coca-Cola, Linkedin, Citi Bank, and JP Morgan helping improve health and wellbeing amongst the nation’s workforce. Hotpod Yoga franchises enable individual yoga instructors or small groups of yoga entrepreneurs to have their own Hotpod Yoga business – with all the flexibility of the pod, the support and reach of the brand, the backing of the HQ team and the Hotpod Yoga classes and concept at its core.

Franchisees are given the freedom to do, within reason (and with Hotpod Yoga approval) what they want strategically with their business – they can serve the corporate market, take multiple public locations or simply have one pod in one location. They are given a jurisdiction, training and strategic support and then are set on their way – with Hotpod Yoga team at their side. Hotpod Yoga was founded by Nick Higgins and Max Henderson, a yoga teacher and
former management consultant, who collectively aim to bring hot yoga ‘down-to-earth’ and make it accessible to all.
