With only five weeks left to go, we’re excited to announce some of the foodie highlights of the 2014 Sanlam Handmade Contemporary (FoodWineDesign) Fair. This year, three top chefs will be preparing their signature dishes for our visitors. Artlogic’s Chefs in the City project will see David Higgs, Michael Holenstein and Thom Hughes each take the stand for one day and treat visitors to their wares.
Chefs in the city
David Higgs of the Saxon Boutique Hotel will be hosting the Chefs in the City stand on Opening Night and on Sunday 9 November. An old friend of the Fair, David has an endless number of awards to his name, and is currently Eat Out’s Chef of the Year. Michael Holenstein of De Hoek Country Estate will be joining us at the Fair for the first time. Michael regularly figures as one of the top chefs in South Africa, thanks to his innovative yet classic and unpretentious food. He’ll be manning the stand on Friday 7 November, so pop by to meet him and sample his wares. Thom Hughes, who we’ve dubbed the Guru of Gastropub, is co-owner of several of Jozi’s favourite spots – the Office, the Griffin, Perron and, most recently, Steamworks. He’ll be taking to the stand on Saturday 8 November – be sure not to miss it!
Another highlight of the Fair, is A Taste of Franschhoek, where six producers from the famed Cape village will be flying up to share their goods with us. On the food side, you can expect fresh bistro delights from Café des Arts, decadent French cheese platters from Fromages de France, and an array of creations by Huguenot Fine Chocolates. Anthonij Rupert, Black Elephant Vintners, Vrede en Lust and Grand Provence will be serving their fine wines, while master potter David Walters will be showcasing and selling his finely crafted ceramic tableware.
The Fair takes place from Friday 7 November to Sunday 9 November. Tickets are R90 from Webtickets or R100 at the door. For more info visit our website or email firstname.lastname@example.org
