David Higgs’ “Mile 8” now Available as an eBook!

Mile 8, the inspirational biographical cookbook by acclaimed Chef David Higgs is now available in e-format on Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer. The book, first published in 2018, has already had two almost-sold-out print runs.

“This has been an incredibly special project to me,” says David. “And I’m really excited that the book is now available in e-format. Listing the book with Amazon means we can now reach all corners of the globe.”

Since its launch, Mile 8 has received several accolades. The book was one of the few South African cookbooks included in the Exclusive Books HomeBru catalogue in 2018, and in 2019 it was named as a finalist at the 24th Gourmand World Cookbook Awards held in Macao, China. The awards, which were first introduced in 1995 at Frankfurt Book Fair, are widely recognized as the Oscars in gastronomy. Mile 8 was nominated in the category of “Best Cookery Book Written by a Restaurant Chef”. The book was competing against Mirazur, which at the time, had just been voted as the number one restaurant in the world.

Mile 8: A book about cooking, first landed on shelves in November 2018. It features over 90 dishes and 150 recipes influenced by the journey of Higgs’ career, Mile 8 is a culinary adventure bringing together the unique and interesting flavours of Southern Africa. The recipes are designed to encourage experimentation and educate on combining flavours.

“Writing this book was quite an emotional experience, and it reminded me of so many stories from my childhood, and things I had forgotten about,” says Higgs. “It’s lovely to be able to share this with people and tell stories as they are. It’s also great to give everyone a real peak into the ‘behind the scenes’ of a professional kitchen.”
