Bubbles and oysters are a match made in heaven, so to welcome summer, Rosebank’s Clico Restaurant will be introducing its weekly Friday Fizz – from Friday, October 7 – served in the hotel’s gorgeous gardens.
Start your weekend off with six oysters and a glass of bubbly for only R195 per person.
The raw oysters can be eaten simply shucked or with a grind of black pepper, a squeeze of fresh lemon or a dash of Tabasco (or all three) but also come with a choice of three sauces – the classic Mignonette made with minced shallots, cracked pepper and vinegar; ponzu (soy and citrus) and classic cocktail.
The bubbly on offer is the De Grendel MCC Brut, a blend of 70 percent Chardonnay and 30 percent Pinot Noir. It is a delicious and extravagant wine in every sense of the word, with fresh citrus, apple and sweet tropical fruit flavours backed by some lemon-cream richness – a perfect fit for oysters.
So celebrate the start of the weekend every Friday at Clico from 16h00 to 19h00, beginning on October 7.
Clico also boasts an intimate restaurant for those who would like to stay on after Friday Fizz for a more substantial meal. The Clico Restaurant celebrates its first birthday on October 1 this year and has become a firm favourite with foodies since opening its doors. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Dinner fare is more elaborate with an emphasis on presentation and technique. Based on seasonal, organic and local ingredients, Clico’s evening menu includes optional wine pairings for each dish to enhance the flavours of the chef’s creations. Executive chef is Peter van Schaik who joined the team earlier this year after having worked at Die Ou Pastorie, The Forum Homini Hotel and Roots Restaurant, Singita Sabi Sands and the celebrated Hotel Fauchere in the US.
