Chivas Regal’s 25 Year Old Scotch Takes Gold at International Spirits Challenge 2016
Chivas Regal is known worldwide for its award-winning Scotch whiskies, and now, after the culmination of the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) 2016, the elite brand has a few more impressive accolades to add to its already-vast collection.
Founded with the mandate to “reward quality” and “celebrate excellence”, the ISC is supported by many leading spirits producers as the international standard for excellence. The competition recognises three key areas of the industry: Tasting, Design, Packaging and Marketing.
It is in the ISC Tasting Awards that the entire Chivas Regal prestigious range came away as winners.
Winners in this category are determined through a strict judging process that consists of seven days of highly controlled blind tastings by panels of more than 50 experienced industry professionals.
The categories represent the following:
· Trophy: Outstanding product, exceptional quality
· Gold: Excellent product, superb standard
· Silver: Fine product, above average
· Bronze: Good product, meets the quality standard set by the ISC
Against illustrious competition across whisky brands Chivas Regal was awarded Gold for Chivas Regal 25 and Silver for Chivas Regal Extra, Chivas 18 and Chivas 12.
“We feel privileged to have competed in the ISC, and to be so honourably recognised in the tasting category with our prestigious Whisky that has delivered year after year for over two centuries,” says Shelley Reeves, Marketing Manager at Chivas Regal SA. “As every spirit producer knows, winning an ISC award is a truly impressive achievement, as the judges are experienced global specialists from within the industry.
“With South Africa collaborating more closely with global partners, this is fantastic news to share regarding our intrinsic quality mixed with our contemporary extrinsic.
“For the first time in Chivas Regal history, Chivas 18 Year Old is now encased in exclusive, Xhosa-inspired packaging created by internationally-recognised home-grown designer Laduma Ngxokolo. Now available at Makro and Norman Goodfellows, it is the ideal salute to a friend, mentor or father that makes a thoughtful gift that embodies modern chivalry,” concludes Mrs Reeves.
