Winners announced for the IAB Bookmark Awards 2017
The winners of the IAB Bookmark Awards were announced to a packed audience of the digital industry’s finest at The Galleria, Sandton last night. South Africa’s top talent and most memorable campaigns were recognised, illustrating how far the digital industry has come and laying the path for future innovation.
IAB South Africa, is an independent, voluntary, non-profit association focused on growing and sustaining a vibrant and profitable digital industry in South Africa.
The IAB SA represents the digital industry across all sectors including the media, the marketing community, government, and the public, and also acts as the channel through which international bodies can enter the South African digital market.
It currently represents over 200 members including online publishers, creative, media and digital agencies, brands, and educators, between them accounting for more than 42 million local unique browsers. The IAB SA strives to provide members with a platform through which they can engage, interact, and address digital issues of common interest, thereby stimulating learning and commerce within the South African digital space.
Congratulations to all the incredible creatives, agencies, publishers and campaigns that were recognised this evening. We received a record number of entries this year, many of which exhibited groundbreaking digital knowledge and strategic relevance. Our judges were inspired by the way our winning entrants combined courage, creativity and business savvy to create enduring work.

This year’s Special Honours awards recognised those pioneering within their field, either through their use of technology and creative output or their contribution to transformation within the industry. The following sought-after awards are as follows:
Best Agency: Ogilvy
Best Contribution to Transformation in the Digital Industry: Livity Africa
Best Digital Student: Bernard Cloete, Julia Smith and De Wet Cilliers from Vega School
Best Digital Youngster: Katlego Phatlane – Promise
Best Individual Contribution to Digital: Matthew Buckland – Creative Spark
Best Marketer: Vanessa Singh – Nedbank
Best Publisher: News24 (a division of Media24)
Brand of the Year: KFC, with support from Ogilvy
This year, the judges were impressed by the engaged, socially-minded digital campaigns. From commercial websites and UX design, to social communities and games, South Africa’s creatives illustrated an unwavering focus on the consumer and a keen instinct for social relevance.
