With only 3 weeks to go until this year’s Taste of Joburg, the highly anticipated restaurant list is out!
The list is a selection of new additions and old friends ranging from Italian cuisine to Thai, French and Indian
Selecting restaurants is always challenging because we want the show to grow every year. “The expectations of the evolving Joburg palate are now such that we can afford to be a little more daring with our restaurant choices and I think our restaurants talk to that.

The announced restaurants to-date are:
2 Thai 4: Overseen by Head Chef Oya. They promise a menu of authentic Thai cuisine using fresh herbs and traditional spices all prepared by Thai chefs.
‘A la Bouffe: A family-run restaurant overseen by Head Chef Rumualdbegan, who began his culinary career at the age of 15 in France and now shares his experience of French Cuisine with Johannesburg.
Eatery JHB: Headed up by Chef Shayne Holt whose seasonal menu enables him to constantly change the food offering.
Escondido Tapas and Wine Restaurant headed by Chef Martine Christian. Their menu has a range of options; one of their most favoured dishes being their Arincini.
Fusion Pantry is a tastes and flavour fusion by Chef Robert Walker. His motto? Eat simple, eat bold flavors, and eat for the pleasure of it, food can tell stories.
Junior South African National Culinary Team, headed by Chef Klaus Beckann owner of La Luna in Melville, the team will cook up a range of culinary delights to tantalise the taste buds.
Rabbit in the Moon. With Chef Nuno Coelho Barata at the helms, this menu offers an Italian feel that will make you feeling like you are in the streets of Sicily.
Spiceburg restaurant is the first South Indian restaurant in Johannesburg serving up both authentic southern and northern Indian cuisines. With Executive Chef, Jithender Datt Saklani at the helm, they are bound to spice things up.
“We look forward to announcing our final list closer to the event, and in the interim, hope this list tantalises as much as it inspires,” concludes Drake.
Crowns are the festival currency used to purchase food and drink at Taste of Joburg
Pre-booked festival tickets are priced from R80 and include a tasting glass.
