Egg-citing times lie ahead for families at Sun City over the Easter holidays. Family styled activities, awesome live entertainment, gastronomical food, chocolate-infused fun, a movie on the beach and so much more is on the cards.
From the onset of the school holidays, the resort has been a stage for roaming Easter characters, stilt walkers, jugglers and face painters performing their magic. The resort’s entertainment hub, Sun Central, offers fun filled activities for the young and the young at heart such as face painting and balloon sculpting for the duration of the holidays. MC Owen and DJ Choco work their magic at Valley of Waves making sure that there’s never a dull moment and the waves of fun reach every nook and cranny of the aquatic wonderland.
On Saturday, 15 April, Sun City has organised an open air screening of the family animated movie, “Hop”, on the beach at the Valley of Waves. The special screening under the stars starts at 20h00 and costs R30 per child under 12 years and R50 per adult. The Brew Monkey and Food Factory at the Valley of Waves will be open for guests to enjoy food and refreshments on the evening. “Hop” is an American animated comedy starring the voice of Russell Brand as E.B, a rabbit who does not want to succeed his father, the Easter Bunny. He heads to Hollywood, determined to become a drummer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. In LA, he’s taken in by Fred an out-of-work slacker who wants to become the next Easter Bunny himself.
Egg-citement levels will reach their peak on Easter Sunday, 16 April, as the stage is set for the hunt for the most Easter eggs! The Kamp Kwena team will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Cabanas lawns promptly at 10h00! Young thrill-seekers will egg each other on in a race against time to bag the most Easter eggs, strategically placed all over the Cabanas lawns by the playful and oh-so-energetic Easter Bunny and his friend Kwena, the Kamp Kwena mascot. There is no charge to participate in the egg hunt and all our young egg-sperts are urged to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time for a full briefing. Kamp Kwena, renowned for its excellent kid’s entertainment and babysitting services, offers a wide variety of activities and educational programmes to keep little ones, aged between 4 and 12 years, entertained for hours.
In addition to the super charged Easter-themed activities, Sun Central houses themed food venues and entertainment experiences. These include cinemas, retail outlets, the Sun Arena (Superbowl), dedicated children’s area and ten pin bowling. Sun Central is also home to the South African Hall of Fame – a legacy project and the first of its kind in South Africa to acknowledge and celebrate South Africans who have achieved greatness across fields such as sport, arts, culture, the performing arts, science and technology.
The Soho hotel, our “always on” party zone, stays true to its name and boasts an array of activities for over 18s. Dance the night away at Encore, the exclusive and decidedly glamorous modern dance club or chill at Vibes, the vibrant, retro-styled sports bar, which hosts Quizz Nights on Tuesday evenings from 21h00 and for only R30, South Africa’s most loved funny men (and women) will have you in stiches on Wednesday evenings from 21h00.
As always, there is an exciting array of activities for visitors of all ages, including thrilling water rides at the Valley of Waves as well as jet skiing, paddleboats, wake boarding and parasailing, the new Kazooma Raceway and Rockventure Golf at the revitalised Waterworld at Cabanas.
