Following the incredible success of SHINE 2018, Born To Perform are excited to announce the show will be re-staged at The Teatro at Montecasino from 13th – 15th September for four performances only.

Born To Perform is a platform to give young performers opportunities and experiences in the arts, whilst allowing self-development and personal growth through the love and passion for music.

In 2018 they played to sold-out audiences at The Lyric at Gold Reef City and are excited to announce their new collaboration with Montecasino for 2019’s show.

We are so super excited to have Born To Perform here at Montecasino this year. I can’t wait to see you at the auditions! Good luck!

For the 2019 staging of SHINE, Born To Perform are looking to give the opportunity to local schools that have exciting things happening in their art departments – Drama, Music and Dance – to experience performing on the Teatro Stage in September 2019 as part of the show. They are a fully inclusive platform and encourage all schools that see the value in arts development to audition.
“We want to SHINE! a light on local schools that are doing great things in their creative departments” says Gemma Marinus, Director of Born To Perform.

She continues; “We are particularly interested in seeing school choirs, music ensembles, dance troupes, tap troupes, Pantsula troupes and we are on the search for a school to open ACT 2 with a show-stopping number!”

In SHINE 2018, the wonderful Auckland Park Primary School, Redhill School and St Vincents School Of The Deaf participated alongside sensational celebrity performers, adding fabulous youthful diversity to the show and left the audiences visibly moved by their talent.

Steyn City School attended SHINE 2018 and this is a quote from them, highlighting their pupils’ experience:

Says Pippa Clegg, Director of Music at Steyn City School;

“Thank you so much for the opportunity for Steyn City School to attend SHINE Born to Perform 2018.

The students who attended this magical evening were so inspired by the messages that they heard from the performers. It really gave them the sense that they could be who they were in life, and who they were could be celebrated. I was mind-blown by the talent that I saw on stage and I left feeling so excited about the heights that can be reached by a dedicated group of young performers.

It was also fabulous to see how the experience motivated our students as they worked towards their own personal goals. I look forward to seeing the show this year and wish you all the best with the rehearsals!”

Born To Perform look forward to seeing the fabulous young talent at the auditions!
