The Saxon’s Afternoon Tea would make Marie Antoinette green with envy!
While almost every coffee shop offers you a quick pedestrian adrenaline fix, Saxon Boutique Hotel offers you a luxurious alternative that includes a leisurely afternoon tea served with bespoke savoury and sweet canapes that will remind of you a world when timeless elegance was the order of the day.
If you’re looking to treat the ladies to lunch, or woo a romantic partner, or enjoy a lazy day of leisurely nibbles, Saxon Boutique Hotel has a table waiting for you in the Piano Lounge. Just because it is Afternoon Tea doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a bottle of bubbles or two either.
The ritual of tea is celebrated across the world, but regardless if you want a plain cuppa or something more exotic, the Saxon offers a wide selection of local and imported tea. Your host will explain the origins of their teas and also how best to brew them. Not being a big tea drinker, I celebrated the ritual with a spot of champagne.
The Saxon serves a quintessentially English Afternoon Tea; complete with cucumber sandwiches, liver pate, salmon canapes, and savoury quiches that will have even the Queen of England quiver with anticipation, or a South African High Tea that includes samoosas, pastries, and even bunny chows. The tiered platters are sufficient to share between two to four people, depending upon your appetite, but don’t forget to save room for dessert.
Our selection of desserts included chocolate ganache, raspberry cheesecake, and lemon meringue. Plus, what would an Afternoon Tea be without scones and cream?
Centrally located in Saxonwold, the Saxon Boutique Hotel is an ideal afternoon getaway, or an overnight staycation.
