Edward Chamberlain-Bell Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Launches #best10days Photo Competition‏

With up to 50 stalls selling beautifully crafted local design pieces, fresh produce and dinner meals, coupled with Knysna’s signature laid back, easily enjoyable atmosphere and new music, the Local Design and Food Market is one of the most popular entries on the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival programme of events.

Market organiser Sarah-Jane Barnhoorn says it was started to showcase the talented, contemporary design local to visitors to the region. “Our designers exhibit and sell products that are on par with those handmade in Johannesburg or Cape Town in terms of quality of design and construction.”

“The market helps to inspire our designers to keep evolving their products and be aware of design trends. Shoppers may expect great quality products, made with a lot of heart and effort. Our products are truly unique – very different from what you’re used to seeing at other markets around the country!”

“To help keep things fresh, we always welcome a few new exhibitors to the market. We also feature great live music, and this year we’ll be entertained by guitar virtuoso Gerry Liberty. We also keep things interesting by adding new performing artists such as mimes, fire dancers, unicyclists, jugglers, stilt walkers and more to participate in the evening’s festivities.”

The Local Design and Food Market was launched in 2010 at the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival. This initial market was a great success and the market now takes place quarterly, firmly cemented on the local events calendar. The July market is the 13th installment of this fantastic event, taking place at the Upper Level Parking of Knysna Square, 40 Rawson Street, Knysna, between 17:00 and 21:00.
