L’AVENIR ESTATE LAUNCHES THE GLENROSÉ
A Provence-Style Premium Rosé Crafted from Premium Soils
Embedded in ancient African soils, the vineyards of Stellenbosch produce acclaimed wines the world over. It is here; within the ‘golden triangle’ of Stellenbosch that L’Avenir produces wines of the highest quality with a strong focus on Pinotage.
Pinotage, the uniquely South African cultivar created in 1925 by Professor Abraham Perold by grafting the delicate Pinot Noir varietal with the resilient Cinsault (then referred to locally as Hermitage); has proved best suited to the more trying conditions of the hardy Glenrosa soil type, a shallow terroir derived from granite. Due to being highly suited to the production of world-class Pinotage, Glenrosa has earned the honour of being much sought-after. At L’Avenir, a prominent vein of Glenrosa runs through our Pinotage plantings, principally concentrated in Block 2, our registered single vineyard block used to create our flagship Single Block Pinotage.
With the aim of creating a rosé of international standards reflecting our close collaboration with our French family, AdVini, we worked to isolate grapes from this vein of Glenrosa from amongst the 3 soil types present in the block. Using this small, hand-selected harvest, we have carefully crafted a small batch of Provence-style rosé, resulting in 2 500 bottles of Glenrosé.
This elegant rosé, with a pale blush inspired by the characteristically pink tinge to the Glenrosa soil; is an exceptional representation of the Pinotage grape. With a nod to the iconic South African Protea, the Glenrosé has been bottled in a specially designed bottle with a Protea-shaped punt, sealed with an elegant Vinolok glass cap in homage to the inherent effortless style of the French. The Glenrosé is a true tribute to local terroir with global flair
Appearance: A vibrant and inviting sunset pink
Nose: A lively and layered nose with candy-sweet strawberry mingling with a delicate rose-petal note and ending off with an abundance of citrus aromas
Palate: A deceptively dry wine with a refreshing acidity that complements the fruity palate of the wine
Aftertaste: A lingering refreshing aftertaste due to the natural acidity and minerality
Suggested food pairings:
Absolute bliss as an aperitif on a beautiful summer evening. Also delicious with oysters, delicate white fish dishes, parmesan risotto balls, salads with watermelon, feta and rocket, divine with blue cheese or strawberries. And an ideal palate cleanser at the end of a meal.
