Krone Night Nectar 2011
Synonymous with the production of benchmark Méthode Cap Classiques, Krone has launched the Krone Night Nectar 2011 Demi-sec Cap Classique.
Located at Twee Jonge Gezellen Estate (TJ) in the picturesque town of Tulbagh, Krone has a long tradition of the fine art of blending the classic Champagne varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Having perfected this skill, Krone is proud to announce that bubbly lovers can now enjoy all that defines Krone Méthode Cap Classique in a slightly sweeter version of this classic combination.
 KRONE NIGHT NECTAR 2011
The Krone Night Nectar is a sophisticated Cap Classique which is charmingly drinkable, fruity and generous with a satisfying touch of sweetness. This bottle-fermented and lees-matured sparkling wine, a blend of the traditional Champagne varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, is named in honour of the once practised Krone tradition of night harvesting. It has a creamy, fine mousse and shows expressive aromas of baked golden apples and almonds. Refreshing lemon curd and subtle marzipan flavours fill the palate and linger on the aftertaste, leaving the taste buds calling for more.
Although this is a slightly sweeter Cap Classique, Demi-sec meaning ‘half dry’, the touch of sweetness is beautifully balanced with refreshing acidity, making it a versatile food-friendly wine: a perfect match for richer, creamier savoury dishes – foie gras is a good example – or foods that have a slight edge of sweetness to them, for instance caramelisation, a fruit ingredient or sugar, as per many Asian recipes. Desserts like a baked lemon tart, apple strudel, panna cotta or just a plain cheesecake will make a fine match. Also delicious with red berries or blue cheese.
The Krone Night Nectar 2011, packaged with an eye-catching gold foil, is widely available nationally in select liquor retailers as well as Pick ‘n Pay and other grocers, and retails for approximately R110 per bottle.
