The game show where contestants become antique experts. Hosted by renowned British gardener and television personality, Alan Titchmarsh, Masterpiece is a unique new game show taking place in some of the most stunning stately homes across Britain. The brand new series, which was the brainchild of Alan himself, sees teams comprised of antique and history fans going head to head in a series of challenges. From valuing antiques to deciphering the age of a collectible, the contestants must use their amateur antique skills to secure their position in the ‘Masterpiece Gallery’. Once they enter the ‘Masterpiece Gallery’, each team must work out which of the three objects on display is the true ‘Masterpiece’, an item so exquisite or rare that it is worth £10,000 or more and add it to their collection. The team that has successfully collected the most ‘Masterpieces’ wins.

In 1855, when Doctor Thorne’s penniless niece Mary is excluded from the wedding preparations of her childhood playmate, she probes her uncle about the circumstances of her birth. She is devastated to learn that she is the illegitimate child of his late brother and it seems she has neither breeding nor fortune. This is a problem as Mary and Frank – heir to the local Greshamsbury estate – have fallen in love. Frank is under strict instructions from his overbearing mother Lady Arabella to save the family from financial ruin by marrying money. Lady Arabella plots to separate the two lovebirds, urging her son to woo the wealthy American heiress Miss Dunstable. Doctor Thorne acts as both physician and business advisor to railway millionaire Sir Roger Scatcherd, in whose hands the fate of Greshamsbury lies – but who is rapidly drinking himself into an early grave. The series follows Doc Martin as he turns his back on life as a celebrated London surgeon and moves to a sleepy Cornish village to become the local doctor. Despite his surgical brilliance, Doc Martin lacks any interpersonal skills and his bedside manner soon starts to upset his new patients. Series three contains laughs and tears as Doc Martin continues to fit into his new lifestyle. There’s trouble in the village when a new family move in next door to Louisa and prove to cause issues for everyone. The Doc finally gets some admiration but not from Louisa… This, however, spurs Louisa to make her feelings known. But will there be wedding bells or ambulance sirens? Starring: Martin Clunes (Shakespeare in Love, Men Behaving Badly, Gormenghast), Caroline Catz (The Merchant of Venice, The Vice, Murder in Suburbia) and Ian McNeice (The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Black Dahlia, and Rome).
