Investment & Retirement Expo 2014 now incorporating Property Expo

The Investment & Retirement Expo will this year incorporate the Property Expo, as the age of expo visitors and scope of the investments on show broadens.

The 2014 Investment & Retirement Expo, from 24 to 26 October at the Coca-Cola dome in Northriding, Johannesburg, will emphasise the need for South Africans of all ages to take charge of their investment and life planning, via efficient investing and healthy living.

Lynn Chamier, General manager of event organiser Thebe Reed Exhibitions, says “The profile of visitors has expanded to include forward-thinking attendees as young as 20, who are looking to secure their futures through sound investments made now. With the purchase of real estate as one of the biggest investment one makes in a lifetime, it makes good sense to expand the expo to include the Property Expo.”

The Property Expo aims to grow the South African real estate sector while educating consumers and simplifying the process from a buyer’s perspective. It will showcase key players in the real estate market, including banks, bond originators, estate agents, governing bodies and developers; and will give expo visitors access to information about real estate offerings and legislation, financing and lifestyle and insider investment tips, for people planning to buy, sell or renovate a property as well as those considering expanding their investment portfolios.

With only around 500 paydays between the ages of 20 and 65, South Africans need to take charge of their long-term financial planning as early as possible. Exhibition sponsor Efficient Group says South Africans are finding it necessary to become more astute in preparing for the different stages of life. “Investing in real estate, short and long-term financial investments, insurance, education, retirement, and even family vacations are all important considerations when compiling an appropriate financial plan. The longer you wait to implement your investment and lifestyle strategy, the less satisfying the quality of your life could be in the medium- to long-term,” said Efficient Group CEO Heiko Weidhase.

However, sensible investments are not the only focus area at the show. With the slogan “Live. Plan. Play.” the Investment & Retirement expo’s exhibitors include investment, insurance, retirement and financial planning, health, wellness, fitness and lifestyle solutions, real estate, home and security products, travel destinations, retirement living and care products and services.

“It’s not just about retirement. It’s about your whole life’s journey, from your first paycheck to your last investment pay-out, and about how investment planning and healthy living can contribute to a quality lifestyle at any age,” explains Chamier.
