Food theatres to thrill at Good Food & Wine Show @goodfoodSA

THEATRES TO THRILL AT THE JOHANNESBURG GOOD FOOD & WINE SHOW

You see them on TV, hear them sharing their culinary secrets on radio, own their cookbooks and regularly read their recipe recommendations in newspapers, magazines and online. Now you have the chance to meet George Calombaris, Matt Moran, Siba Mtongana Jenny Morris, Sarah Graham, J’Something and Neill Anthony in person (and for free for the first time ever) at the ‘Fresh’ new Johannesburg Good Food & Wine Show. Get to the TicketPro Dome from Friday, 29 to Sunday, 31 July 2016 for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with these renowned chefs.

“At this year’s Johannesburg Good Food & Wine Show, the curtain, which previously kept chefs cloistered from the majority of visitors due to the exclusionary prices of seeing them, has come down. Our chefs will be entertaining and interacting with audiences in a variety of ways at our nine theatres, seven of which offer entry at no extra cost,” says, Maria Chieppa, Managing Director of Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa – new owners of the show.

Join George, Matt, Siba, Jenny, Sarah, J’Something, Neill, MasterChef South Africa contestant Claire Allen or Executive Chef at Carnival City Rylan Ramsay for a 45-minute-long cooking demo in the Chefs Open Theatre. Sit back, relax and watch your favourite chef in action from one of 400 seats. Who knows, you might just get picked to go up on stage to assist them!

Wanting a hands-on experience? Roll up your sleeves and put your culinary talent to the test at one of the 90-minute cooking demos in theCooking with Chefs Theatre. You’ll get to uncover the secrets behind the International Hotel School’s David Goette, Sun International’s Cresan Ramjathan and the headline chefs’ signature dishes. Each session accommodates 24 people selected on a first come, first served basis who will team up at the 12 cooking stations. After the sessions, you’ll eat what you’ve cooked and interact with the chef.

Bakers! Get top tips for making tantalising treats from Ultimate Braai Master and MasterChef South Africa finalist Sherwyn Weaich, TV Personality Lorna Maseko and others in the Baking Theatre.

Let your creativity out in the Cake Deco Lab where you can learn how to sculpt sugar to form flowers, figurines and cake toppers, decorate with sugar paste and make meringues and marshmallow fluff.

Former MasterChef South Africa competitors Siphokazi Mdlankomo and Claire Allen will be presenting their uniquely South African food entertainment offering in the Short Chef Skinny Chef Theatre. Stop by for some of their top cooking tricks and tips.

Little chefs will not be left out with the Kids Corner offering them the opportunity to cook up their own culinary creations. Best of all, you can keep an eye on your kiddies from the seating area just outside the theatre.

The Eat Well… Live Well Theatre is a must for health conscious foodies with chefs like Sarah and Sun City’s Sean Mann whipping up delicious and nutritious meals in the demos.

The scent, taste and sight of wine will be celebrated in the Wine Theatre with a highlight being the food and wine pairing programme featuring wine experts Lloyd Jusa, Gregory Mutambe and Zimkhitha Mashiyi. It’s going to be a non-stop party in the SABC 3 Theatre with all your favourite TV personalities.

Spend between 90 and 120 minutes with one of these gastronomic greats while they give a masterclass, answer your questions in a Q&A session and serve you a sample of the dish they made.
