A generous handful of new exhibitors in the cooking and cuisine sector plus an elegant serving of tasty restaurants around the exhibition means that Decorex Joburg will have plenty to offer enthusiastic foodies this year.

Visitors to Decorex Joburg are always offered a variety of refreshments – from light meals to sushi as well as restaurants with a variety of substantial meals. This year, the KWV Gourmet Market will feature delicious market -style fair, pared with wine and easy drinking pre-mixed cocktails from KWV.

Decorex Joburg, Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition, takes place from 6th to 10 th August 2014 and the first ever 100% Design South Africa taking place alongside the exhibition, this promises to be the most exciting Decorex Joburg ever.

This year the food scene is set to be more exciting than ever. Look out for The Build Café, the perfect space to enjoy a gourmet prego roll or chilli boerie. The Herb Café will serve up tasty winter food like creamy butternut soup with croutons or a cream cheese bagel and at the Art Gallery Café, visitors can enjoy Thai curry pastry-pocket hot pots or a fresh South African salad.

The Lunch Box will offer frezzo coffeez, iced cappuccinos, sandwiches filled with salmon and dill mustard, chicken and avo or something sweet like donuts glazed with cinnamon sugar. This is the place for those visitors who are looking for something to grab and go. Speaking of sweet, don’t miss the Chocolate Lounge where visitors can take a break over coffee, chocolates and indulge on sweet treats.

Café Chic by My Furniture will be the place to enjoy a glass of bubbly with something decadent like a slice of baked cheesecake or chocolate brownie with chilli chocolate or a light salad. The Graham Beck Wine Bar, by Concreate and Forest Collection, will be the adults-only chill area with bubbly and sushi on the menu.

Foodie demonstrations will take place in the DionWired Design Your Life Theatre. Food celebs include SA’s Barista Champion Craig Charity and MasterChef SA finalist Joani Mitchell plus demonstrations from Belle’s Patisserie and the Prue Leith Chefs School.

Decorex Joburg has also attracted a host of new food exhibitors. One newcomer is the prince of artisanal ice-cream Paul Ballen – certain to be exciting news for ice-cream lovers all over the city. Paul’s Homemade Ice-cream is already hugely popular, but is only available at limited outlets. If you’ve yet to sample Paul’s creamy and delicious apple crumble, salted caramel or dulce de leche ice-cream, don’t miss this opportunity to meet the man and his ice cream.

New to the Decorex Joburg experience is Curry in a Hurry, the brainchild of husband and wife team Natalie and Mike Dinath. They’ve come up with a ready-made, preservative-free curry paste that makes cooking up a curry the easiest and tastiest thing in the world.

Mooiplaas rusks and biscuits are another treat, all the way from Kokstad in the Eastern Cape that Decorex Joburg visitors can look forward to sampling.

“We are the only butter-based rusk and biscuit product on the market,” says Mooiplaas’ Roland Rousseau. He says their best sellers are whole-wheat rusks and fruity crunchies but is certain that the whole-wheat and cranberry rusks they’ll be showcasing at Decorex Joburg are going to be an absolute hit.

Decorex SA General Manager Sian Steyn says she and her team are delighted to welcome some new names to the cooking and cuisine sector at Decorex Joburg.

“Food continues to grow as one of the most important lifestyle trends of our time and is an essential part of our visitors’ homes and lives. We, therefore, see the foodie experience at Decorex Joburg as an integral part of what we are doing.”
