Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat and Bouchard Finlayson will be teaming up for an indulgent winter foodie weekend from Friday 26 – Sunday 28 June 2015, as part of Bushmans Kloof’s Signature Food and Wine Weekends series. Bushmans Kloof Executive Chef Floris Smith and ‘Pinot Pioneer’ Peter Finlayson are set to spoil gourmands and wine connoisseurs with a host of culinary treats throughout their stay.

The Food and Wine Weekend will offer guests an unforgettable wilderness experience along with a gourmet feast that celebrates the marriage of world-class cuisine and superb wines. It will include a special wine tasting and presentation by Peter Finlayson; an inspired food and wine pairing dinner on the Saturday night; daily High Tea; nature drives; and rock art excursions. The weekend costs from R2635 per person sharing per night and includes all meals, wines and lodge activities.

Bushmans Kloof has long been established as one of the Western Cape’s top gourmet destinations, with winter being the perfect time to visit and explore its culinary richness. Executive Chef Floris Smith is the man behind the award-winning Relais & Châteaux lodge’s reputation as the home of authentic Cape cuisine in the Cederberg. Together with Peter Finlayson he has created inspired menus for the weekend that perfectly capture the tastes and flavours of the Cape Floral Kingdom, highlighted by some of Bouchard Finlayson’s finest vintages.

Peter Finlayson set up the boutique, family-run Bouchard Finlayson Vineyard and Winery in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley and is widely credited with putting the Walker Bay area on South Africa’s wine map. Bouchard Finlayson is framed by mountains and within sight of the ocean, with frost-free, beneficial weather and the most perfect clay shale vineyard soils to produce Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines of outstanding quality. Under the leadership of Peter Finlayson and Victoria Tollman of the Tollman family, founders and owners of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, Bouchard Finlayson’s flagship Galpin Peak Pinot noir has become renowned on a global scale, winning many an international award along the way. Finlayson will showcase the winery’s Pinots and other delectable vintages throughout the weekend – a real treat for oenophiles.
